Richards was Eddie Howe's last signing for Burnley, set to come in from Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of his contract with the MLS in America. He was permitted to sign for us at the beginning of January and found himself on the bench for our cup tie at Barnsley.
He was introduced as a substitute, coming on for Ross Wallace with just over twenty minutes to go. His impact was immediate, making two pacy runs, winning a corner from the first but failing to get in a shot at the end of the second.
We didn't see him again until he made an early, and surprise, appearance in the league game against Huddersfield. He replaced the injured Dean Marney after just a quarter of an hour but was replaced himself after an hour by Sam Vokes after having a difficult time.
He's not been since since and has now joined Norwegian Second Division side FK Bodø on loan until the end of the season with the deal just awaiting international clearance.
Speaking about the move, manager Sean Dyche has said: "Dan was unbeknown to us when he came in. The club had already signed him when I was appointed and we feel we have given him a fair time to try and get used to it and give him a little taste for it.
"We just thought he was short to be honest for what we needed, so the idea of a loan is to get Dane out playing again and get him some game time."
Burnley have never confirmed the length of contract given to Richards although I am led to believe it is until the end of the 2013/14 season.
