Refreshed Nugent eyes scalp
16 Oct 2009 - 11:38:47
On-loan striker David Nugent claims he has rediscovered his love of the game during his time at Burnley.
The England striker is expected to start Sunday's east Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park after scoring two goals in as many Premier League starts since arriving from Portsmouth.
Nugent had found himself out in the cold at Pompey following his £6million arrival from Preston North End two years ago.
"I love my football and I've started to get my love back for the game since I came here, it's been really enjoyable," he told the club's official website.
"It's going perfect so far I think, hopefully I'm getting better as the games go by and it doesn't come much bigger than this one on Sunday, I'm really looking forward to it.
"I'm sure it will be an unbelievable atmosphere on Sunday, I've played in derbies before with Preston and Bury which were nice, but I bet this will be even bigger.
"We've got a few local lads in our team and I'm sure everyone will be fired up on Sunday.
"You have to approach it like any normal game, but there will be that added bit of spice. In derbies the football can go out of the window and it's all about the passion.
"I've played at Ewood Park before with Portsmouth. It didn't go very well, we got beat 3-0, so hopefully we can amend that on Sunday."
