Redknapp didn't rate me - Nugent

The former Preston striker joined Burnley on loan until January on transfer deadline day after finding himself out of the picture at Fratton Park. Nugent failed to establish himself at Pompey after being brought in by Redknapp in the summer of 2007. The England cap claims Redknapp did not rate him as a player and that he made a mistake in going to Portsmouth in the first place. "It's a relief to get out of Portsmouth," Nugent told the Daily Star. "Harry's a good man-manager but it just didn't seem to work with me. After a few weeks, he didn't fancy me as a player. "I think he got the wrong impression of me. I've always been the way I am, a fun, bubbly character on the training pitch. I don't think he liked that. People make mistakes and I made one going there. "I was down there on my own with no family but I just had to get on with it. It was horrible. I lost so much confidence. "Every time I came on as a sub, I seemed to make an impression but that wasn't good enough. Everything since I joined Portsmouth has just been downhill. "I was so down, I didn't want to go to training sometimes. I was just on my own, sitting in the apartment, watching TV, playing computer games, going to bed at stupid hours of the morning. That's been the lowest point of my career, and hopefully this will be a new slate."
