Rangers back on top as Palace lose clash at the bottom

Queens Park Rangers are back on top of the league with their win against Reading coupled with Swansea winning the South Wales derby at Cardiff, and down at the bottom, Crystal Palace are rooted there after losing at Middlesbrough. QPR finally ended their run of draws with a 3-1 win against Reading and they knew that had taken them back to the top with Cardiff not playing until Sunday. They are still there after a Marvin Emnes goal won it for them at the Cardiff City Stadium. They were the better side in a game which Cardiff should have finished with ten me. How on earth Michael Chopra (he once played for Newcastle you know) stayed on is anyone's guess. Still, the FAW will surely see that the correct and appropriate action is taken. The win has taken Swansea five points clear in third place, ahead of Derby, Ipswich, Coventry and Norwich. Interestingly, had referee Trevor Kettle been doing his job properly on Saturday you wouldn't see Norwich there but you would see Burnley alongside the other three. The big clash at the bottom was definitely that between Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace at the Riverside. They kicked off two points adrift of the rest and it was already looking an important game.Palace were in front for much of it but once again, as happened to us, Tarmo Kink made an impact, bringing the home side level. It took a late own goal from Paddy McCarthy to swing it 'Boro's way to leave Palace three points behind the rest. The two clubs directly above them, Bristol City and Preston, also met with the spoils shared leaving Bristol City, a club now ready to sell players after announcing big losses, in the third relegation place. We've a full fixture list this midweek and those fixtures along with the weekend stats, the league's leading goalscorers and each club's disciplinary record is below. The Weekend ResultsSaturday 6th NovemberBarnsley 1 Leicester 2Middlesbrough 2 Crystal Palace 1Bristol City 1 Preston 1Norwich 2 Burnley 2Coventry 2 Leeds 3QPR 3 Reading 1Derby 2 Portsmouth 0Sheffield United 1 Ipswich 2Doncaster 2 Millwall 1Watford 1 Nottingham Forest 1Hull 0 Scunthorpe 1.Sunday 7th NovemberCardiff 0 Swansea 1.The Weekend StatsBiggest winDerby 2-0 v Portsmouth (home)QPR 3-1 v Reading (home)Total goals scored33 (17 home - 16 away)Player scoring most goals2 - Martin Paterson (Burnley)Highest Attendance28,184 - Coventry v LeedsLowest Attendance10,356 - Doncaster v MillwallTotal Yellow Cards39Total Red Cards2Most cards in a gameQPR v Reading (4Y 1R) - Steve TannerBristol City v Preston (5Y) - Dean WhitestoneCardiff v Swansea - Mark HalseyCoventry v Leeds (5Y) - Keith StroudThe leading scorers (league only)10Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff)8Chris Iwelumo (Burnley)Jamie Mackie (QPR)Lewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest) - includes 1 penalty7Kris Commons (Derby) - includes 1 penaltyJon Parkin (Preston)Scott Sinclair (Swansea)6Danny Graham (Watford)Andy King (Leicester)Steve Morison (Millwall) - includes 1 penaltyBilly Sharp (Doncaster) - includes 3 penaltiesDavide Somma (Leeds)Marvin Sordell (Watford)Adel Taarabt (QPR) - includes 4 penalties5Luciano Becchio (Leeds)James Coppinger (Doncaster)Chris Eagles (Burnley) - includes 3 penaltiesAdam Hammill (Barnsley)Heidar Helguson (QPR) - includes 3 penaltiesJonny Howson (Leeds)Liam Lawrence (Portsmouth) - includes 3 penaltiesJason Scotland (Ipswich)Hat Tricks (league only)11th Sep3 - Chris Iwelumo - BURNLEY v Preston14th Sep3 - James Coppinger - DONCASTER v Norwich14th Sep3 - James Vaughan - CRYSTAL PALACE v Portsmouth28th Sep3 - Jon Parkin - Leeds v PRESTON30th Oct3 - Jonny Howson - Scunthorpe v LEEDSDisciplinary Record (all domestic games)ClubYRClubYRBarnsley260Middlesbrough221Bristol City171Millwall252Burnley354Norwich211Cardiff181Nottingham Forest210Coventry241Portsmouth231Crystal Palace234Preston393Derby240QPR271Doncaster191Reading263Hull290Scunthorpe151Ipswich222Sheffield United202Leeds272Swansea371Leicester212Watford180The Next FixturesTuesday 9th NovemberBurnley v DoncasterNottingham Forest v CoventryCrystal Palace v Watford (20:00)Portsmouth v QPRIpswich v DerbyPreston v DerbyLeeds v HullScunthorpe v MiddlesbroughMillwall v Norwich.Wednesday 10th NovemberLeicester v Sheffield UnitedSwansea v Bristol CityReading v Cardiff (20:00).
