The one to play was David Edgar who won his 16th cap for Canada in a friendly against Japan played in Qatar. He played all but the last four minutes in the Khalifa Stadium in Doha and ended on the losing side with Japan winning the game 2-1. Stevenage's Marcus Haber scored Canada's goal.
Danny Lafferty and Martin Paterson joined up with Northern Ireland only to find their home game against Russia was called off following heavy snow in Belfast. Under FIFA rules the game was quickly re-arranged for this afternoon but a frozen pitch has now put paid to it with June looking the most likely new date.
Scotland v Wales looked as though it could be a clash between former and current Burnley strikers but that didn't quite happen. Wales came back from behind to win the game at Hampden Park 2-1 but Sam Vokes was an unused substitute.
Steven Fletcher, named in Gordon Strachan's starting line up, was stretchered off after just two minutes after landing awkwardly on his ankle with Kenny Miller replacing him three minutes later.
Another amongst the unused subs was Dane Richards. He was back home in Jamaica as they drew their home game against Panama 1-1. Bristol City's Marvin Elliott gave Jamaica the lead midway through the first half with Panama's equaliser coming twenty minutes into the second half.
There was action for one loan player and one ex-Claret.
Alex Kačaniklić played the full ninety minutes for Sweden in their 0-0 home draw against the Republic of Ireland. He had a very good game for his country in his sixth international and was voted as the man of the match.
The one ex-Claret in action was Gabor Kiraly who was back in the Hungary side with Bolton's Adam Bogdan relegated to the subs bench.
Gabor captained his country in his 88th international and twice saw his side go in front against Romania. However he was beaten by a 68th Adrian Mutu penalty and could do nothing about a second Romanian goal in the second minute of stoppage time that saw the game end 2-2.
One more former Burnley player was an unused substitute. Diego Penny played in Peru's last World Cup qualifier but was relegated to the bench for their latest game, a 1-0 home win against Chile.
Finally, Cameron Howieson and New Zealand are doing well in the Oceania Football Confederation Under-20 tournament in Fiji.
They've played the first two of their four games and won both. Two days ago they were 5-0 winners against Papua new Guinea and in the early hours of this morning recorded a 1-0 win against Vanuata.
Cameron played the full ninety minutes in the first game and was substituted after seventy minutes in this morning's win. The wins have left them as joint leaders in the competition with hosts Fiji with the winners qualifying for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup being played in Turkey in June and July.
