Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock is keen to extend Russell Anderson's loan spell at Home Park until the end of the season.
The Sunderland defender has impressed during his month with the Pilgrims, starring in six games for Sturrock's play-off chasing side.
The Argyle boss told the Evening Herald: "We've chatted to Sunderland and we're just waiting on word back - as soon as possible I hope.
"Russell has done okay for us and we think it would be a benefit for us if he stayed, but it's purely in Sunderland's hands at this minute what the story is.
"He's been a Steady Eddie for us right through and has never let us down."
