Paul Smith signs for Hucknall Town
Former Burnley left winger Paul Smith has been on the move and has left Quorn and signed for Hucknall Town ahead of the 2010/11 season. It's over 16 years since Smith made his debut for the Clarets, coming on for Ted McMinn as a substitute in the last league game of the 1993/94 season at Exeter.He went on to play 128 times for Burnley, the last of which was the final away game of the 2000/01 season at Sheffield United, this time coming on for Paul Cook. He was released at the end of that season and eventually signed for Hartlepool United before moving on to Sheffield Wednesday.He left Wednesday in 2005 and had short spells with Alfreton Town and Kidderminster Harriers before signing for Sheffield FC in 2007.In three years with Sheffield he played almost exclusively as a left-back and in the 2008/09 season won just about all of their player of the year awards including the Supporters' Player of the Year and the Players' Player of the Year.He signed for Quorn in January of this year until the end of the season but has now, at the age of 34, signed for fellow Evo-Stick League Premier Division club Hucknall Town.
