Paterson: We must keep our heads
The Clarets striker helped his side to an impressive 2-0 second-leg win over Reading in the play-off semi-finals on Tuesday night as his stunning 51st-minute opener was followed by a goal of equal quality from team-mate Steven Thompson at the Madejski Stadium.[LNB]But Paterson is adamant that, after wrapping up a 3-0 aggregate success, Burnley must maintain focus as they prepare to face the Blades at Wembley on May 25 for a place in the Premier League. [LNB]"It is fantastic, obviously, but we have got to keep our heads now. There is one more game," the Northern Ireland international, who has scored 19 goals this season, told Sky Sports 1. "We have done nothing yet. We will celebrate, but we know that the big game is still to come."[LNB]Paterson was also modest about the quality of his 35-yard goal against Reading, adding: "It is great to score a great goal. But one goal doesn't mean a great performance. I think the lads deserve a pat on the back, not myself."[LNB]Meanwhile, Thompson believes Owen Coyle's Burnley fully deserved to progress past the Royals after improving on a below-par display in the opening 45 minutes. [LNB]"The first half was very difficult. Reading came out and put us under pressure. We didn't play well at all," he said. "The manager made us aware of that and in the second half I thought we addressed it very well.[LNB]"We have won the tie 3-0, no arguments.
