Paterson extends Turf Moor stay

Martin Paterson is two years into a four year contract at Burnley, having signed in the summer of 2008 from Scunthorpe, but has now committed to a further year at Turf Moor. Pato was the first summer signing of 2008, the first of four in one week in June, and cost the Clarets a reported £1.3 million when the former Stoke player made the move from Scunthorpe. He'd put pen to paper on a four year deal and was a major player in our promotion during his first season, scoring no fewer than 12 league goals, plus that wonderful play off goal at Reading.Last season saw him score his first Premier League goals, four of them in total, but it was a season when he missed a lot of football due to a knee injury sustained in the Carling Cup defeat at Barnsley.Once fit, he returned to score those goals including the dramatic first in the 4-1 win at Hull and one in his man of the match performance on the last day of the season win against Spurs. Now, half way through his contract, he's agreed to a one extension that will now see him remain a Burnley player until the end of the 2012/13 season.
