Palace keen on Jordan

New Crystal Palace boss George Burley has begun the task of building a squad for the new season after the club came close to liquidation just a few weeks ago. With little money available, Burley is searching the free transfer market, particularly for defenders, and has identified left-back Stephen Jordan as a target.Jordan was released in May after three years at Burnley and was reportedly talking to Sheffield United recently. Nothing, as yet, has come of that and it may well be that he makes the move to Palace. He was signed by Steve Cotterill for the Clarets in the summer of 2007 on a three year contract, making his debut just hours after signing in a pre-season friendly at Wrexham. In three years he made 73 league appearances, his last game for Burnley coming against Blackburn Rovers in March this year. Injury saw him substituted in that game and for the second season in succession his season was ended by injury. He was one of six players released by manager Brian Laws at the end of the season.
