Owls reject 'derisory' Tudgay bid
Burnley have made Tudgay one of their top targets as they prepare for life in the Premier League this season and have already had one previous offer rejected.
It is believed Tudgay is keen to talk to the Clarets about a possible move to Turf Moor, but Wednesday are keen to keep hold of last season's top scorer.
A club statement read: "Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that Burnley Football Club have made a formal and what can only be described as derisory offer for striker Marcus Tudgay.
"We would like to stress that this offer is most unwelcome and this move is regarded as an underhand tactic to unsettle our player."
Wednesday claim Tudgay's agent is trying to unsettle the player and engineer a move away from Hillsborough.
"It's disappointing that an agent would act in such a cavalier manner when he is supposed to be protecting the interests of the player and also the right of the club to protect its assets," Owls chairman Lee Strafford told the club's official website.
"Sheffield Wednesday will not be taken advantage of in this situation.
"We recently sold a left winger for a significantly greater amount than is now being offered for one of the best strikers in the Championship and the player was in an identical contractual situation to Marcus, but at that time SWFC was more interested in taking a defensive position as a business.
"Now we are looking to progress and we are not interested in taking any steps that do not allow us to build on our progression."
