Orlando City Soccer is not a Burnley move

Last night came confirmation that Austin Aztex had been acquired by Orlando Sports Holdings and the franchise would be moving from its Texas base to Orlando in Florida. Austin Aztex are associated with Stoke City and managed by former Stoke player and Burnley player and manager Adrian Heath. Owner Phil Rawlins is a director of Stoke City. Heath will relocate with the club as will most of the players and they will play in the new USL PRO from April 2011.More intriguing was the news that Burnley FC director Brendan Flood was named as one of the owners of the new club, immediately bringing concerns that we were again getting involved in the game in the United States. We got involved when we bought into a franchise in North Carolina with Cary Railhawks, the PDL Under-23 team. It was immediately renamed Cary Clarets. That was in November 2008 and it was an initial deal of two years. However, Cary Clarets closed down after the 2009 season, playing their last ever game in August of that year.Back to the new franchise, and it has been confirmed today that this is Brendan Flood's personal involvement and not Burnley Football Club's and the new club will continue to have an association with Stoke City.
