No vuvuzelas on the Turf

Clubs have been queuing up in the last few days to ban vuvuzelas and Burnley have now joined in by putting a stop to any thought of supporters bringing them through the turnstiles at Turf Moor. The constant drone of the vuvuzela was a very unwelcome feature of the World Cup for some, but whilst Blackpool have encouraged their fans to bring them next season, and Wembley also deciding against any ban, there have been a whole host of clubs saying no to them.Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool led the way yesterday for the Premier League and our local Championship rivals Preston also said they would not be welcome at Deepdale. Now, today, Burnley have done the same. A spokesman for the club said: "Vuvuzelas are not welcome at Turf Moor. We don't allow any musical instruments in because they disrupt the enjoyment of supporters, and vuvuzelas fit into that category." The spokesman added: "At Turf Moor we rely on supporters to generate their own fantastic atmosphere." That left me wondering how that statement ties in with goal music. Still, we might have to continue putting up with that but at least there'll be no vuvuzelas.
