Naylor, from South Yorkshire, will be refereeing Burnley for a fifth time, and so far, touch wood, he hasn't done too badly. Worryingly I did write something similar four days ago regarding Ilderton but hopefully we'll get nothing like that tonight.
He's been a Football League referee since the start of the 2010/11 season. Sincil Bank Lincoln was where he refereed his first game as the home side lost 2-0 to Torquay in a League Two game.
That season saw him referee twice in the Championship. His first game was Crystal Palace v Bristol City at Selhurst Park and on Tuesday 15th March 2011 he refereed our 2-2 home draw against Coventry.
It was only last season when he started to get anything like regular Championship games with almost half his games last season being at our level. This season, however, before tonight, only four of his fourteen games have been in the Championship.
What can we expect? The likelihood is we'll get a referee who does like to keep the game moving and one who isn't over active when it comes to cards, so that's a good start.
This season, in his 14 games, he's given out just 25 yellow cards and one red card. Of the yellow cards, 12 have gone to home team players and 13 to away team players. The one red card came in his last Championship game when he dismissed Nottingham Forest's Djamel Abdoun in their recent home defeat against Blackpool.
Last time out was Port Vale's 2-0 League One win at Walsall last Saturday. Walsall's Andy Taylor was the only player yellow carded.
Michael Naylor is currently in 13th place in RATE THE REF with a rating of 72.47 out of 100.
The assistant referees are Gary Hilton (Lancashire) and Jason Tyas (West Yorkshire). The fourth official is Kevin Mattocks (Lancashire).
