Moyes: I should have signed Grezzer

Everton boss David Moyes has paid tribute to Graham Alexander and expressed regret at not brigning him to Goodison Park from Preston. The veteran Burnley utility player, 39, stands just one game away from making his 1,000th career appearance. Moyes worked with the Scot during their time together at Deepdale and said: "It is an incredible achievement for any player to play 1,000 games now. "I signed him from Luton for £50,000. I remember driving down with my scout and we sat and watched him. We needed a right-back and I signed him. "In hindsight maybe I made a mistake when I left Preston that I didn't try to bring him with me. He was that good. "To still be playing at that age is testimony to how well he has trained and looked after himself. He is a really good professional."
