Moss to referee cup tie

29 January 2011 10:05
West Yorkshire referee Jon Moss will referee today's FA Cup tie against Burton Albion and it is his second Burnley game of the season having been in charge of our league game at Middlesbrough in September. He didn't have the best of games that night and certainly fell for a couple of Middlesbrough players going down far too easily. It was his third Burnley game and was his second disappointing game in the North East having turned in a poor performance at Hartlepool in the Carling Cup in the previous season.Ahead of that game at Middlesbrough he'd already sent off three players this season, but that's only increased to five with both of them during this month. He dismissed QPR's Matthew Connolly in their 1-0 defeat at Norwich on New Year's Day and West Brom were also 1-0 losers in the FA Cup at Reading when Moss dismissed Jonas Olsson. In 24 games he's handed out 47 yellow card with 19 of them going to home team players and 28 to away team players. He's recently been promoted to the Premier League, getting his first game at Blackpool (versus Birmingham) on 4th January. His second at the top level came in midweek, Aston Villa's 2-1 win at Wigan. There were five yellow cards in that game - Maynor Figueroa and Steve Gohouri (Wigan) along with Carlos Cuellar, Brad Friedel and Jean Makoun (Aston Villa). The assistant referees are Trevor Massey (Cheshire) and Seb Stockbridge (Tyne & Wear). The fourth official is Football League referee Andy Haines (Tyne & Wear) who refereed our home game against Barnsley in October.
