More players as we move into the 1990s
The first five seasons of the 1990s brought changes to Burnley with a play off failure against Torquay, two promotions (including one in the play offs against Stockport), and one relegation. During that five year period there were 53 players who made their Burnley debuts. The first game was a home game on the opening day of the 1990/91 season when John Deary and Joe Jakub scored in a 2-2 draw against Lincoln. On that day Paul France and Ian Bray were the full backs, both making their debuts. The last debutant in the five year period was Paul Shaw who came in on loan from Arsenal for the last couple of months of the 1994/95 season, scoring four goals in nine appearances with those goals coming, one each, in his first four home games. The player pages for these 53 players have now been added, bringing us up to 327. Of those added today there are 25 with profiles. The profiles for Armstrong, Brass, Campbell, Painter and Steve Thompson have been written by Andy Ashworth, those for Joyce and Randall by Kevin Foote and the Stewart profile by Paul Coppack. When these profiles were previously compiled we were informed by The Football League that the two games against Aldershot in the 1991/92 season could not be included in any way because Aldershot failed to complete their fixtures during that season and their record was expunged. However, that seemed to change when Graham Alexander was being pushed towards his 1,000 game total and so these games are now included under the 'Others' column for all the players involved.
