Mixed fortunes for international Clarets

David Edgar was the only Burnley player to get on the pitch this week in the international games, and having missed Canada's first game he got his first ever full international start last night. Last Friday, Edgar and Keith Treacy (Republic of Ireland) didn't feature as Canada beat  St. Lucia 4-1 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Toronto and Ireland drew 0-0 in Dublin in a Euro 2012 qualifying game. Treacy again had a watching brief last night as the Irish again drew 0-0, this time in Moscow but Edgar won his first ever Canada start as they made it two wins out of two with a 3-0 victory over Puerto Rico in Bayamón. Having previously made two substitute appearances for his country, this was Edgar's fist start, playing at right back. Two of their goals came from other English based players, Preston's Iain Hume and Simeon Jackson of Norwich. Alex MacDonald was the other Burnley player away on international duty but he missed out as an unused sub as the Scotland under-21s were held to a 0-0 draw against Bulgaria at St. Mirren.
