Millwall v Burnley reaction

02 October 2011 10:58
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett admits he may need to bring in reinforcements in order to halt the Lions' worrying start to the season. [LNB] The Lions went down 1-0 at home to Burnley, meaning Millwall have now scored just once in seven games - a barren run that has seen them pick up just two league points and suffer a Carling Cup exit at the hands of Wolves.[LNB]Jay Rodriguez showed Millwall how it is done in front of goal with a smart first-half finish to wrap up the points for Burnley.[LNB]And after previously stating he had the resources at the club to cure the drought, Jackett admits he may have to look elsewhere.[LNB]Jackett said: "It could be that we have to get someone in now.[LNB]"I don't think it's any secret that we just haven't scored enough goals this season and that is something we will try to address.[LNB]"I think we did everything but score in the second half. We had a disallowed goal, a penalty appeal and those things just happen like that when you are down on your luck.[LNB]"We've got a couple of weeks now because of the international break and I'll have a look at it again. [LNB]"Confidence is low in the dressing room - the players are obviously disappointed and one win in 10 games is obviously not good enough."[LNB]It was a case of more perspiration than inspiration for both sides in the early exchanges and it took a little bit of creativity from Junior Stanislas to wake the match from its slumber.[LNB]The ex-West Ham man - predictably booed at every touch of the ball by the Millwall crowd - almost created an opportunity for Charlie Austin before producing an effort of his own soon after.[LNB]But in truth, Lions keeper David Forde had not had a save to make before being forced to pick the ball out the back of his net.[LNB]Ross Wallace's low corner was dummied by David Edgar and found Rodriguez unmarked - and he did the rest.[LNB]Millwall could not have been as lacklustre after the break as they had been in the first half and did make more of a fight of it.[LNB]Lee Grant had a couple of saves to make and Hamer Bouazza blazed over the bar late on but Burnley's clean sheet - their first in 23 games - never looked in too much doubt.[LNB]Burnley boss Eddie Howe said: "That was a real battle. To be honest, I don't think either side got going and that might be a bit down to the weather.[LNB]"It was very hot out there and I certainly never liked playing in heat like that.[LNB]"I was most pleased how we battled out there though - that was the most impressive part of our display.[LNB]"We are a completely different team to last year but I think the personnel we have here have a real togetherness and a will to play for each other.[LNB]"It's our first clean sheet in ages as well and that's a nice little lift to have. I thought Lee Grant in goal was magnificent."
