Mills to spend a further month at Oldham

Joseph Mills has today extended his loan with League One club Oldham Athletic and will remain at Boundary Park for a further month.

Mills initially joined the Latics on a 28-day emergency loan on 16th August and went straight into the team for their game at Peterborough the following day. They lost the game 2-1 but Mills has retained his place in the team during the last four weeks, playing league games against Port Vale, Tranmere and Preston and a Johstone's Paint Trophy tie at Shrewsbury.

When he first went out to Oldham, Clarets' boss Sean Dyche said: "We feel that Joe needs some games, Danny Lafferty is in control of the shirt at the minute and with Ben Mee coming back it gives us another option.

"We've got to have players who are fit and ready to come into the side if needs be but with three left backs we felt Joe was one that could go out."

The left back berth has since switched with Mee now in the first team, but Mills has got games and Dyche will be hoping  that will continue. The loan was due to end tomorrow but has now been extended until 13th October., a further thirty days.

That will allow him to play a further six games for Oldham with the last of them on 12th October when they play Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Mills, who signed a two year deal with Burnley after spending the entire 2012/13 season with us on loan from Reading, hasn't played for the Clarets since the home win against Bristol City in early April.
