Mee took the man of the match

Burnley's pre-season campaign came to an end last Saturday with a 1-0 win over Sunderland at Turf Moor, courtesy of a first half penalty from Jay Rodriguez. With the season all but on us the man of the match voting was used for this game and the winner was one of our two new recruits (at that time), central defender Ben Mee who had an excellent game alongside Andre Amougou at the back. Ben won 49.6% of the vote with the rest winning just over half of the vote between them. Jay Rod was second with 13.1% whilst a 7.1% share was enough to give new captain Chris McCann third place. The second of our loan signings from Manchester City, Kieran Trippier, claimed 6.7% of the vote to take fourth place. The voting starts for real this Saturday with the winners getting points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Just Wade Elliott of the current squad, in 2007/08 season, has won the Clarets Mad award which last season went to Jack Cork. Again, the top three players in the man of the match vote will receive votes (3, 2 and 1) with the same number of votes being awarded from the player ratings on the message board. The Player of the Year Table will be updated after the close of the vote for each game. The voting poll will appear soon after the game against Watford on Saturday and once live will run until the end of Tuesday next week.
