Mears linked with Bolton

One Sunday paper this morning is linking Tyrone Mears with a move to Bolton Wanderers. Mears is about to go into the last year of his contract at Burnley which would leave him a free agent come this time next year. Burnley are keen to extend his stay but as yet there remains no news of him signing a deal. However, this morning, former manager Owen Coyle is reported to have an interest in him at £400,000. I would suggest, even going into the last year of his contract that it will remain nothing more than an interest at that sort of money. Tyrone has missed just two league games for Burnley since becoming our first Premier League signing in June 2009. He was an ever present in the Premier League season, playing ever minute of every game. Last season he was out of the side at Ipswich for the first away game through injury and then missed the Preston home game as he served a suspension following his red card at Swansea. Other than those two games, and the time following the red card at the Liberty Stadium, he was on the pitch for the entire league season. Tyrone Mears will take some replacing and £400,000 isn't going to begin to cover that, one year remaining on his contract or not.
