Kevin McDonald's loan spell at Scunthorpe is over and he's returned to Burnley to fight for a place in the first team at Turf Moor. Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough said at the end of last week that they hadn't made a decision but the player has made it for them and opted for a Turf Moor return to try and win his place back in the Burnley side.Manager Brian Laws said this morning: "Kev is coming back and he's going to get his head down and try and get into the team. They wanted him to stay but he wants to come back and fight for his spot. He wants to give it a crack."The more bodies we have got, particularly in midfield, the better. He's had some football, albeit only a few games, and I'm sure he will respond in the right manner."McDonald did make five appearances for the Iron, two of them from the substitutes' bench. He scored one goal in the 4-2 home defeat against Cardiff.McDonald's only appearance for Burnley this season was as a substitute in the Carling Cup tie at Morecambe where he scored the third goal.He has played no league football for Burnley since coming on as a sub in our last Premier League away game at Birmingham.
