McCann targets miracle return

McCann seemed set to miss the rest of the season after tearing both his cruciate and medial ligament in the win over Sunderland in September.[LNB]The injury would normally require surgery and a year on the sidelines, but McCann is making a rapid recovery.[LNB]The 22-year-old is now targeting a return to the first-team for next month's trip to Manchester United and he admits his recovery is a 'mircale'.[LNB]"Things are going really well - better than expected given that I thought I was gone for the whole season," McCann told the Lancashire Telegraph.[LNB]"I don't want to get my hopes up too early but the recovery is going to plan and I have a firm goal in mind ... our game away to Manchester United.[LNB]"Someone said I could be gone for the season.[LNB]"That would have been so hard to take. All my life and all my career I had dreamed of this, playing every week in the Premier League and it would have been so cruel to have that taken away. [LNB]"All you want to do is get out and play but you have no idea when you will be back. [LNB]"Then we had about nine weeks before the next stage, but that's when I got the good news, that it was healing well. It basically healed itself. The doctors said it was a miracle."[LNB][LNB] Portsmouth v Burnley. Click here to bet.
