McCann makes Clarets commitment

Irish midfielder Chris McCann has signed a new two-year contract with Burnley.[LNB] The 23-year-old has spent his entire senior career with the Clarets and has now committed himself to the Championship club until 2013.[LNB]McCann has missed most of the last two seasons due to injury but returned for the last four games of last season to demonstrate his worth to manager Eddie Howe.[LNB]He has now been rewarded with a new contract and has the chance to add to his record of 175 appearances and 21 goals for Burnley.[LNB]"It's been a drawn-out affair but I'm happy it's done and I can concentrate on football," McCann told the club's official website.[LNB]"I am happy to be staying here. It's the club I grew up playing for, so I'm delighted.[LNB]"There was never any real doubt of what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be.[LNB]"It's the right choice to stay and hopefully get regular football here."[LNB]McCann missed just two league games as Burnley won promotion to the Premier League in 2008/09.[LNB]But he managed just 12 games over the last two years having undergone knee surgery.[LNB]"The club has been good to me since I've been here and through the injuries I've had they have stuck by me," he added.
