McCann is new captain

There has been a lot of speculation since Graham Alexander left as to just who would be Burnley's new club captain. Grezza had a year in the role after the departure of Steven Caldwell, but he's moved on now and McCann is the new man with the arm band. It was all but confirmed last week at Torquay, although as far as I'm aware there has been no official release that he was handed the captaincy. Dean Marney was captain on the day but when McCann came on during the second half he immediately passed the arm band to McCann. Some suggest he's too young and I was asked today if he is our youngest ever club captain. The answer to that is a definite no and certainly both Colin Waldron and Martin Dobson were both younger when they first became captain. It's all change for Chris this season. He now has that arm band, he's changed his squad number to 6 after six season with the number 16 shirt, but more important than anything is the fact that he's fit again and ready to lead the side.
