He picked up exactly half of the man of the man of the match vote, ahead of Charlie Austin, scorer of two more goals, who polled 29.9% of the vote. That virtually ensured none of the other players would get double figures and it left Dean Marney, Martin Paterson and Brian Stock all sharing third place with just a 3.6% share of the vote each.
There was no doubting the top two and they were clearly ahead in the player ratings too. McCann won with a rating of 8.91 out of 10 with Austin second, and his rating was 8.82.
Stock was the only player to get a rating of eight to take third place and defenders Ben Mee and Jason Shackell came in fourth with ratings of 7.36 out of 10.
That result means McCann wins 10 points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. There are another six points for Austin, four for Stock, 2 each for Marney and Paterson with both Mee and Shackell winning one point.
The points haven't changed things other than extend Austin's lead at the top of the table to 22 points ahead of goalkeeper Lee Grant. There's a battle for third place now with McCann coming within two points of Mee and one behind Marney.
The voting is still underway for the Cardiff game.
