Marney to be monitored

Burnley boss Eddie Howe will assess the fitness of midfielder Dean Marney ahead of the trip to Bristol City. The former Hull man has been an ever-present since Howe took over at Turf Moor but came off during the Clarets' 2-2 draw with Coventry on Tuesday after taking a knock to the knee. Marney, who has started every one of Howe's 13 games in charge, will be given until the last minute to try and prove his fitness. Wade Elliott and Marvin Bartley will come into contention for a starting role should Marney not make it. Strikers Charlie Austin, Steven Thompson and Martin Paterson and midfielder Chris McCann all remain sidelined through injury.
