Marney signing imminent
Burnley look set to confirm their first summer signing today with the capture of Hull City's former Tottenham midfielder Dean Marney. Brian Laws - close to first summer signingMarney started his career with Spurs and made his debut for them in 2003 against Birmingham, but by the time he'd already had a loan spell with Swindon and then went out to QPR on loan following that first game.On his return he got a first start but was again sent out on loan, this time to Gillingham, at the time playing alongside Burnley in what is now the Championship.A further loan at Norwich followed as he failed to establish himself in the Spurs team, although there was memorable performance at White Hart Lane when he scored the first and last goals in a 5-2 win against Everton, the second of them a spectacular effort.In the summer of 2006 he was signed by new Hull City boss Phil Parkinson and has since played over 120 games for the club who were relegated alongside us.They, like Portsmouth, go down with money problems and Marney will not be the only player forced to leave this summer. He's expected to complete his move to Burnley for around £500,000 and that deal could go through today.
