Marney hails Clarets boss

Burnley midfielder Dean Marney has praised the influence of new boss Eddie Howe following Tuesday night`s 2-1 victory at Portsmouth. Homegrown striker Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 31st minute and although John Utaka levelled soon after, Marney's spectacular overhead kick eight minutes before half-time proved decisive. It was the Clarets' first win under Howe and only their second away victory of the campaign. Marney said: "It's a really good start (for the manager). He has come in and freshened it up and it's a clean slate for everyone. "When he first came in I was injured, which was a little bit disappointing because I wanted to be out there training with the lads. "But thankfully it settled down quickly and I could get out there and I have played the last two games. At the minute I have got the shirt so it's down to me to try and be consistent and stay in the team."
