Mackay is new Cardiff boss

After initially being refused, Cardiff City were given permission by Watford to speak to their manager Malky Mackay and the Welsh club have now confirmed he's their new manager, replacing Dave Jones. Mackay was heavily linked with the Burnley job in January after the move for Paul Lambert ended in disappointment but it looked as though he was ready to commit himself long term to Watford. That's not been the case and he's now the new Cardiff boss, leaving the Hornets looking for a new boss just a couple of weeks before the players report back for pre-season training. Chairman of Watford, Laurence Bassini said on breaking the news: "I can't hide the fact I'm disappointed to see Malky leave. I do, however, wish him the very best of luck and every success for the future as he begins work at his new club."
