We reported last week that Chris Lynch was very likely to get a deal with Southport having impressed during the pre-season for them. Chris Lynch has signed for Southport

Southport boss Liam Watson said then:  "Chris Lynch has done really, really well in the two games. I tried to sign him last summer but he went to Accrington Stanley and the offer of full time football and we signed Andy Owens instead.

"Accrington only kept Chris for six weeks and then he went to Stalybridge Celtic.  But he's with us now and he has certainly done himself no harm towards winning a contract with us."

Lynch has played in two further games for the Sandgrounders and has now signed for Southport for the forthcoming season in the Blue Square Premier League.

Another report last week was of Dominic Knowles playing a trial game for Stevenage. He's now moved further up the country and last night played for York in their friendly at Gateshead. They won the game 2-0 with Knowles scoring the second goal and impressive the York fans with his performance.

Finally, goalkeeper Ben Woodhead, who was released by the Clarets at the end of his scholarship in May, has been training with Morecambe. He was a substitute last Saturday as they beat Preston 2-0 at the Globe Arena, and last night played the second half in a 1-0 win at Barrow.

He's expected to play in their next game, at AFC Liverpool tomorrow, as he looks to win a contract.

Best of luck to all three of them.
