Burnley defender Kevin Long is set to join Accrington on a one-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old will complete the move, which gives him the option to extend his stay, on Friday provided paperwork goes through.
Manager John Coleman is delighted to have secured the centre-back's services.
"He's played for Republic of Ireland under 21s," said Coleman.
"He has got a good pedigree and he's had a good grounding at Burnley so he is not coming here as a fresh-faced kid, he's been over here for a while.
"It will be a different style of football to what he is used to playing in League Two and hopefully he will cope and adapt."
