Lazaar leaves Clarets

Belgian Mehdi Lazaar has left Burnley after his contract, which was until the end of this season, was terminated by mutual consent.

Lazaar arrived from Royal Racing FC Montegnee in Belgium during the 2009/10 season for a fee reported to be around £65,000. He joined the youth squad and served a scholarship over the next two seasons before joining the professional ranks on a two year deal that was agreed at the time of him joining the club.

He's not been able to force his way into the first team squad and, with no plans to retain him beyond this season,  the club and he have agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
