Laws still hoping to strengthen

New Burnley manager Brian Laws has revealed that he is working all hours to try and bring in additional players to strengthen his struggling Clarets squad.

Laws has already snapped up Leon Cort and Danny Fox since taking charge at Turf Moor and is still hopeful of another couple of deals on deadline day.

He told the club's official website: "I'm hoping to sign players.

"While everyone is sleeping at night I'm on the phone and one agent even rang me at 1.30am in the morning. I wasn't too pleased, but if it bears fruit I'll live with that.

"It's been a short period to get organised and strengthen the team, but I am hoping for positive news on Monday.

"Hopefully we can conclude a deal for (Portsmouth striker) David Nugent and if we can't, it will be another striker and maybe somebody else."
