    Laws rues Clarets errors

    14 Mar 2010 - 10:57:23

Burnley boss Brian Laws admitted Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Wolves was a body-blow to his side's hopes of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship.

The loss, on the back of a recent Turf Moor defeat to rock-bottom Portsmouth, has left the Clarets entrenched in the bottom three as the season enters its final two months.

Former Scunthorpe United and Sheffield Wednesday boss Laws admitted: "We feel a little hard done by, but we've got to move on. It's a huge knock but the season doesn't end today and there are still eight games to go.

"There are still a lot of points to be played for and, while that is a body-blow for us, we can't let it affect us and destroy our last eight games.

"It was a poor mistake (by Tyrone Mears) which gave them the first goal, but nobody goes out there and deliberately makes a mistake - sometimes a judgement call can cost you.

"I can't for one minute criticise the players. We've got to have a spirit against adversity and against the issues we put against ourselves. We've got to be positive.

"Danny (Fox) has got a suspected crack on the ribs and he's in hospital having an X-ray. The signs aren't that great but hopefully it won't be too serious."
