    Laws retains Blake U-turn hope

    29 Apr 2010 - 12:22:27

Burnley manager Brian Laws is hoping to persuade veteran forward Robbie Blake that his future is at Turf Moor.

Earlier in the week, Blake revealed he was considering his future at the recently relegated Premier League club following a lack of starting opportunities during the second half of a frustrating season.

The 34-year-old is out of contract with the Clarets at the end of the season, but Laws is refusing to give up hope of keeping the former Darlington and Bradford City forward, who has made almost 300 appearances during two spells with the club.

"Robbie is a player I have great admiration for. He has been fantastic for this club," said Laws.

"I want him to stay. That's something we have been talking about the last few weeks.

"I can understand that at his age he wants to play regular football.

"In the Championship he will have a major say in how we play and be a big influence around the club."
