Laws looks to the positives

Burnley manager Brian Laws believes his side are improving despite falling to a 3-1 Premier League defeat at high-flyers Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

The Clarets held their more illustrious opponents at one stage when David Nugent cancelled out Cesc Fabregas' opener.

But England winger Theo Walcott scored on the hour before Andrey Arshavin capitalised late in the day to secure the points.

Despite another away-day setback, the former Sheffield Wednesday chief can see a marked improvement.

"I think the players put in a real good effort today, there's a lot of positives to take out of the game," he said. "We also know that we rode our luck on a few occasions but you have to do that and the fact that they didn't take their chances doesn't significantly say that we got a battering here.

"I thought we performed really well and particularly in the second half I thought we had a real good 20-minute spell where we were on the front foot and we got that equaliser and, of course, we looked in a confident mood.

"We're going to take a lot of positives and the fact that we were still in the game within the last 30 seconds suggests to us that we're going in the right direction."
