Laws lands Big Chris again
Brian Laws has made his second summer signing for Scunthorpe United by taking Chris Iwelumo to Glanford Park; this after his release from Watford after two years at Vicarage Road.
Iwelumo was also Laws' second summer signing three years ago when he brought him to Burnley from Wolves. That deal went through on 1st June on a two year deal and he joined Dean Marney who had signed a week earlier from Hull.
Iwelumo went on to score 11 goals for the Clarets during the 2010/11 season but only one of those goals, his only goal at Watford, was scored after the appointment of Eddie Howe as manager.
He was still with the Clarets for pre-season ahead of 2011/12, and scored in the games at Altrincham and Bury, but Howe moved him on before the trip to the South West and he signed for two years at Watford.
He made his Watford debut at Burnley and went on to play 39 times for them in his first season there. He was also in the team at the beginning of the 2012/13 season but lost his place in the squad after making what proved to be his last appearance in October, a 2-1 win at Charlton. He was a sub that day and his last start for Watford had come during September.
He went on to loans at Notts County and then Oldham and was released on his return to Watford after their play-off final defeat.
Today's he's joined Scunthorpe on a one year contract with Laws hoping the now 34-year-old former Scotland international can score the goals for his side as they look to win an immediate return to League One.
