    Laws happy to silence critics

    11 Apr 2010 - 10:26:23

Burnley boss Brian Laws was happy to be able to fire back at his critics after his side won 4-1 at fellow strugglers Hull City to give their survival bid a massive boost.

Laws had been under pressure after rumours of dressing room unrest, but his team gave the perfect response at the KC Stadium, with Martin Paterson, Graham Alexander (2) and Wade Elliott on the scoresheet.

He said after a potentially crucial victory: "It's been a very tough week, to say the least.

"As a manager I've been an easy target this week for criticism and hopefully that might just quieten them down for at least a few more days.

"Externally it was very difficult, because the media were very much on our backs, particularly mine.

"I'm a cheap shot at the moment, very easy to get at because we were not winning games.

"The manner in which we lost the Man City game (6-1) was a difficult one because you ask questions about yourself.

"But the players have responded in the right manner and answered those questions.

"We'll certainly wake a few people up with that result, that's for sure.

"The most satisfying thing for me is that the players have proven they can win away from home. We've got to build on that."
