Laws fires Clarets warning

Burnley manager Brian Laws has warned his side that fine home form may not be enough to save them from the threat of relegation from the Premier League.

The Clarets have picked up just one point from 14 games on their travels this term, earning 22 points on home soil at Turf Moor.

Laws said ahead of the visit of rock-bottom Portsmouth: "We have got to try and pick up a couple of points here and there.

"Away from home we have five left. More importantly, we have got seven at home and they are all winnable. If we won them all we would stay up.

"But that is not going to be true, so what we are going to do is make sure that between now and the end of the season we pick up a few points away from home - and we will. I'm very confident of that.

"Why should I have to motivate or lift them when they are in the Premier League?

"They have been working all their careers to be in the position where they are and the last thing that I would expect them to be is down.

"I think the more important thing is just to regroup and re-organise ourselves."
