Laws: We are in it together

Burnley boss Brian Laws has rejected talk of dissent within the Turf Moor ranks following Saturday's surrender against Leeds. After the Clarets let slip a two-goal interval lead to eventually lose 3-2, Laws held a behind-closed-doors meeting with his players on Monday. He has hit out at a local newspaper headline suggesting he had blamed the defeat on his players and insists his squad is united. Laws said: "Everyone is in it together and I mean everybody at this football club. We are all pulling in the one direction, even though some may think we are not. "In particular our local newspaper, the Lancashire Telegraph, with an outrageous headline that came out from the game on Saturday. If you look, it says 'Don't Blame Me, Blame Team'. "That is the headline and that is what we have to work against. If you look in the content of the article, there is nothing in there to suggest that I said that. "I had to have a meeting with my players because of that rubbish, and they are all upset - and rightly so. But whatever agenda they have, can I just say thank you for those comments because it hasn't driven a wedge between me and those players; it has actually galvanised us."
