Laws toasts Clarets' spirit
urnley boss Brian Laws praised his side for their mental strength after they came back from 2-1 down to secure a 3-2 home win over Watford.[LNB] A Martin Taylor header put the Hornets 2-1 up in the second half of Saturday's Championship clash at Turf Moor, but a Ross Wallace strike followed by a trademark Graham Alexander spot-kick completed the comeback for the Clarets.[LNB]Laws said: "I think we deserved it for the sheer mentality side of things because it was a real test for us in terms of character and mental strength.[LNB]"I thought we dug in deep even though their equaliser was poor from our point of view and that rocked us a bit. We didn't seem to be at the races after that.[LNB]"When their second went in it was almost like 'Groundhog Day' but we made changes and it worked. Sometimes managers make changes and they don't work but it worked.[LNB]"Credit to the players who came on because they changed the game. The match wasn't flowing very well and it was almost like head tennis at times.[LNB]"But when we got the ball out wide we were causing them all kinds of problems. Eventually the formation and substitutions won us the game.[LNB]Watford boss Malky Mackay was disappointed his side failed to convert a winning position into a victory.[LNB]He said: "I'm very disappointed. I've spoken to the players and told them that with the effort they put in and the courage they showed against an experienced side for them to go and lose the game is hard to swallow.[LNB]"We are disappointed that we didn't finish the chances we created. At 2-1 against Crystal Palace midweek we had great chances to kill the game off and it was the same."[LNB]On the penalty, he added: "I asked the referee if he was sure about the penalty decision. I've seen it and he doesn't come from behind, he comes from the side and clearly heads the ball before their player handles it.[LNB]"I think he's made a major mistake but we've got to get on with it, keep going and keep believing in ourselves. They've played really well and created a lot of chances."
