Laws revels in thrilling win

Burnley manager Brian Laws admitted he may have aged a few years after a thrilling 4-3 derby victory over Preston. Preston established a 3-1 lead after 70 minutes as Jon Parkin added to earlier goals from Adam Barton and Keith Treacy. But Chris Iwelumo, who opened the scoring, netted twice more in the closing stages after Billy Jones' dismissal to complete his hat-trick before substitute Jay Rodriguez headed home the winner. Laws said: "I've definitely got a few more grey hairs now. But what a derby it was; it certainly had everything. There was plenty of passion, tackles going in and both sides gave it a go. "There's always turning points in a game and that red card could certainly have been a turning point in this fixture. "In the first half we weren't anywhere near where we should have been. We were giving the ball away too often but in the second half we stepped it up. Maybe they've taken the foot off the gas at 3-1 but you can't do that in games like these."
