Laws looking on Clarets' brightside

07 March 2010 15:39
The Clarets remain just a point from safety after going down 3-1 at the Emirates, a 14th away loss of the campaign.[LNB]Arsenal went ahead through a well-crafted Cesc Fabregas goal, only to be pegged back by David Nugent's strike at the start of the second half.[LNB]A fine finish from Theo Walcott put the Gunners back in front, with Andrey Arshavin making sure of the win in stoppage time.[LNB]However, had substitute Steven Thompson kept his snapshot on target with just five minutes left, Burnley could have been on course for a famous result having picked up only one point on their travels all season.[LNB]Laws feels similar efforts between now and the end of the campaign will see the Clarets safe, with key clashes against Stoke and Wolves coming up next week at Turf Moor.[LNB]"A lot of the times this season the players have folded, but against Arsenal we dug in during the second half," Laws said.[LNB]"We had some opportunities but it is all about how you take them.[LNB]"Nugent finished his very well, which will give him a lift, and that is important because you want your strikers to be scoring goals.[LNB]"However, we just snatched at a few of our others, which eventually was the difference between the sides.[LNB]"But Arsenal's second goal never killed our spirit and the heads certainly did not go down, in fact the lads were pushing hard to get another equaliser.[LNB]"I have seen two sides of them now, they have been negative but against Arsenal they were positive and we can take that into our next two games, and what two big games they are."[LNB]Laws added: "We had good spells but when you have them you have to make them count.[LNB]"We can, though, take a lot of pride from the game, there was a lot of work ethic out there.[LNB]"The lads kept their shape well, which has been a criticism this season that we are very indisciplined and gung-ho at times.[LNB]"We looked a better side for that, so I am going to take huge positives from it."[LNB][LNB] Barclays Premier League.
