Laws future in the balance

The future of Burnley manager Brian Laws will be decided in the next few days, officials at the Championship club have confirmed. Laws' tenure looks unsteady after former club Scunthorpe inflicted a 2-0 home defeat on Tuesday to pile the pressure on the boss. Fans were calling for the 49-year-old to be sacked at the final whistle as Burnley slipped to ninth in the table, seven points behind the top five. Brendan Flood, operation director at Burnley, said the club's board will hold talks over under-fire Laws amid concern their promotion push is stalling. Flood told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We do want to communicate to the fans that we are concerned. We have aims for where we want to be and we're not there. We want the club to succeed. We need to make a decision. We either need to back Brian or we need to make a change. "There was no meeting after the game but there will be discussions in the next few days with the rest of the board about the situation. We want any decision to be unanimous. The discussions will be in the next few days. I can't really say any more than that."
