That is why the former Swansea boss is anxious to secure the club's status, as he believes they will be better equipped in the future to deal with the demands of the top flight.[LNB]Wigan remain just four points above the relegation zone ahead of the crucial match against fellow strugglers Burnley at the DW Stadium on Saturday.[LNB]Martinez said: "It has been a massive learning curve for me. The hardest thing in football is to create a new project with a fresh group of players with a change in the philosophy of play.[LNB]"We started from scratch and that has been really exciting on the on hand but really tough on the other.[LNB]"All the work we have done has been to remain in the Premier League and we have to make sure we complete that job over the next eight games.[LNB]"It is a fantastic challenge because staying up will allow us to build and aim for the next level."[LNB]Martinez is concerned that Burnley have yet to record a victory on the road and told his players to be on their guard.[LNB]The Clarets have picked up only one point on their travels but Martinez said: "They are the worst team you can play at the moment.[LNB]"Burnley haven't got much left to try to get out of their position and have little else left to lose.[LNB]"So from that respect you know they will be well organised and ready for the game and that makes them very dangerous.[LNB]"But we are at home and need to win, so that is what makes the game such a big occasion."[LNB]Meanwhile defender Gary Caldwell has spoken of his special bond with brother Steven, the Burnley captain, who will sit out the match because of a pelvic injury.[LNB]Steven was at the game on Tuesday when Wigan lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa.[LNB]Scotland international Gary said: "I joked that he was there scouting us and seeing what we were like but he came along as he had a free night. It causes a few fights."[LNB]Gary, who arrived from Celtic in the January transfer window, hopes both clubs survive.[LNB]"Being club captain it is a massive day for Steven and his club as well," he told BBC Radio Manchester.[LNB]"But come Saturday as a professional I will trying to put a big dent in Burnley's survival hopes."[LNB]Midfielder Charles N'Zogbia is doubtful after he suffered a hip problem during the Villa match.[LNB][LNB] Wigan v Burnley.
