Dominic Knowles, released by Burnley at the end of last season, has signed for Gainsborough Trinity who are currently in the lower reaches of the Blue Square North.

Knowles came through the youth system at Burnley and spent two years as a professional after signing his first deal in the summer of 2010. He didn't make a first team appearance but was on the bench for our last game of the 2010/11 season, a home draw against Cardiff.

He had trials at both Stevenage and York during the pre-season and things looked more than hopeful that he'd get a deal at York.

Unfortunately he was unsuccessful despite manager Gary Mills having been impressed, but he's finally landed himself a contract with Gainsborough.

He could make his debut tomorrow when they face a home game against unbeaten Worcester City.

Meanwhile, Dave Lynch, a former team mate of Knowles at Burnley is now playing for Burscough who are in the Evo-Stik First Division North where he is a team mate of Antony Glover who was on trial with Burnley at the beginning of last season.
