He's a player that manager Sean Dyche will know all about having worked with him at Watford two seasons ago when he joined them on loan.
He's best known for the almost six years he spent with Wolves, and Burnley fans will recall that he scored both goals against us in our 2-0 defeat at Molineux in the 2008/09 season that saw both of us promoted to the Premier League.
Wolves snatched him from non-league Grays, initially on an emergency loan, before they made it a permanent deal with the opening of the January transfer window in 2007.
Kightly had started his career with Basildon before moving into the Football League with Southend. He spent the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons at Roots Hall but made only 13 league appearances. During his time there he was loaned out to Farnborough and at the end of his second season was released by manager Steve Tilson.
He joined Grays and his form there prompted Wolves boss Mick McCarthy to sign him. He didn't let him down either and was a regular in the side until a series of injuries kept him out of action for virtually sixteen months.
That's when he moved to Watford on loan in the 2011/12 season when Dyche was manager. He was there for just over two months and made 12 appearances.
Fully fit again he returned to Wolves and got back into the side and he remained in the Premier League after Wolves were relegated by signing for Stoke. He played in over half of Stoke's Premier League games last season but hasn't featured since the appointment of new boss Mark Hughes in the summer.
That's led to him reuniting with Dyche and he'll be with Burnley until the end of this season.
