Keane goes at Ipswich
It's just nine days since Brian Laws was sacked as manager of Burnley Football but since then no fewer than nine other clubs have made a change of manager with Roy Keane leaving Ipswich this morning. Of those nine, two of them were due to Micky Adams leaving Port Vale for Sheffield United, but the other seven have all been sackings with three of them, at Preston, Crystal Palace and now Ipswich in the Championship, taking the number of Championship clubs to have made a change this season to nine.Keane's departure is no real surprise. There has been constant speculation recently over his future and for much of his time at Portman Road there has been apparent unrest at the club's inability to offer much in terms of a push for promotion.He took over just before the end of the 2008/09 season but last season they finished in 15th place but that was a recovery after a wretched start. This season, with a target of the top six they are languishing in 19th place.As a result, Ipswich have confirmed this morning that they have ended Roy Keane's tenure at Portman Road and have begun the search for a new manager.Former Notts County manager Ian McParland has been appointed as caretaker manager.
